New from Basic Grey

When I first saw the new lines by Basic Grey come into the store, I knew I had to make something with them! I absolutely love Basic Grey, they always come out with such great lines! This line is called Curio, and I am in love with it!! So, the first thing I did when it came into the store was buy a few sheets of my favorite papers from the line!

This is what I came up with...

I used two sheets of Basic Grey paper for this page. The big, beautiful flowers are Curio - Upholstery and the other is Curio - Needle Lace. The thing I'm finding I like the best about scrapbooking in 8.5 x 11 is that I get to really make use of beautiful doubled-sided papers like these.

I also used some Pebbles by Prima, some gold Stickles, some Pearls by KaiserCraft, and then various products from past lines by companies like Cosmo Cricket, Pink Paislee & Webster's Pages.

I took the photos of the page before I wrote in the journaling. This is one of my favorite photos from my childhood, however, I really don't remember this day at all. I had to phone my mom to ask for some details. She really didn't remember much about the day! A good argument for my Journaling Rant. All she could remember was that our family went fishing and this was my very first fish. She reasoned that I must have been three-almost-four years old.

Anyhow, that's my first project with the lovely new Curio line by Basic Grey!  I hope you like it!

Falling Snowflakes

So I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!! I'm not one that particularly likes the cold, so I am soooo happy that it's finally warming up, if only it would stay like this for the whole winter I would love it!!! Well, I have another card for you and I couldn't resist using some more of my Bo-Bunny Midnight Frost Paper.......this has to be one of my favs this year, so here's another card done in the blues..........

Products Used:

Cardstock: Navy & White
Misc.: We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy- Stitch Piercer, Burst Stitch Piercer, Mat & Blue Floss American Craft Ribbon Satin with White Dots Denim Ribbon

This is a fairly quick card to make, I think doing the stitching took the longest.......I used the Burst to do the stitching and I only used 3 of the strands for the stitching. I stamped the snowflakes and embossed the patterened paper with clear EP. Die cut the snowflakes and use the Crystal EP on the navy cardstock and used the winter wonderland EP on the white cardstock..........this really does shimmer more than in the photo, I really wish I could capture it on the camera!!!

Here's a close up of the snowflakes..........

I absolutely love this set from Flourishes......I kinda designed the card around the snowflake's just too cute!!! Then, I added some ribbon and bling, that's pretty much it for this card, So are you all ready for Christmas? I'm getting there, still have some giftys to buy and cards to mail........they should get them in time for a great week!!!

Don't forget to enter our Sketch Challenge.......we would love to see what everyone comes up with!!!

Also, your favourite online store, Scrapbooker's Paradise is offering FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $50 shipped before November 30th, 2010

Wonderful Webster's Pages Projects!

Here are some fabulous projects by Carolyn, featuring the new Webster's Pages Hollywood Vogue line.  This gorgeous collection is perfect for scrapbook pages and cards!  Here's how these fabulous projects came together!
Green, Black, & Pink Cardstock
Webster’s Pages paper: Hollywood Vogue Double Feature
EK Success Punch - 2.5" Circle
Webster's Pages Embellishment - WonderFALL Tinsel Trim
Ranger Distress Crackle Paint - Clear Rock Candy
Pink Paislee Stamp - Parisian Anthology Clear
Kaiser Craft Pearls – Champagne
Webster's Pages Embellishment - Flower Whimsey Multi Pack
Webster's Pages Embellishment - Vintage Inspired Netting
3L Adhesive - E Z Runner 33'
Tonic Studios Tool - Tim Holtz Paper Distresser
3L Photo Corners - Black Paper
Tsukineko Embossing Powder – Silver

To Complete Layout:
Cut 8”x 8” green cardstock
Distress edges of 7.5” x 7.5” Black cardstock and adhere to green cardstock
Cut and distress edges of 8” x 1” pink cardstock strip, adhere to page
Matte photo with pink and green cardstock
Cut and distress edges of  “silhouette heads” from “Hollywood Vogue” paper, approx 4” x 6”, matte with pink cardstock and adhere to left edge of layout.
Using photo corners, adhere matted photo to layout.

With circle punch, cut “timeless bliss” from “Hollywood Vogue” paper, snip around circle approx. ¼ inch snips and bend up for dimension.  Then apply generous layer of Distress Crackle Paint...allow to dry and adhere to page.

Cut 2” x 8” piece of Silver Netting  and tie in three places with Pink Tinsel Trim. Use glue dots to adhere to page.
Using silver embossing powder, heat emboss stamped image and then decorate it with a pearl.
Stick on your choice of resin flowers from Flower Whimsy Pack.
(I also chose to embellish the headband, necklace, and glove in photos using Star Dust Stickles)

Webster's Pages 12x12 Paper - Hollywood Vogue Foo on Film (cut from purple/green side for narrow strip)
White Cardstock
Webster's Pages Embellishment - Flower Whimsey Multi Pack
Webster's Pages Embellishment - Vintage Inspired Netting
Doodlebug Brads - Lilac Sugar Coated
Provo Craft Cuttlebug - Frills Border Set
Martha Stewart Punch - Garden Trellis Edger

In the Making - Microfine Glitter in Cool Highlight
Ranger Stickles Glitter Glue - Star DustScor-Pal Adhesive - 6"x6" Adhesive Sheets

To complete card:
Cut one sheet of 8.5” x 11” white cardstock in half, and then fold one piece in half to create card base. (this leaves you with enough for a second white card base)
Cut adhesive sheet to fit card front
Adhere mauve netting to sticky card front (it helps to cut netting a bit bigger than card front and trim after you stick it down).
Pour a generous amount of Microfine Gitter over netting and rub (burnish) to cover entire front. Tap off excess.
From green side of patterned paper cut strip 2” x 5.5” and punch bottom edge with  Trellis Edger Punch. Using Cuttlebug,  emboss piece of patterned cardstock with your choice of Frills Border (I used the one with the small circles). Use brads to attach to Trellis piece.
Adhere to card front with glue dots (because of the netting/ need a strong adhesive).
Stick on your choice of  resin flowers from the Whimsy Multi Pack.
Put a dot of  Star Dust Stickles in each intersection of  punched Trellis; allow to dry.

Christmas Emma

Happy Monday. there such a thing as a Happy Monday, I'm sure there is and that's my wish to you!  I'm back today with another go at the Playing in Paradise Sketch Challenge.  Those who know me, know I love my sketches, and I think this month's sketch is really fun, plus it's a good excuse to get another Christmas card done.

Paper:  Prism Simply Smooth white & Ivory, green & red, Everybody Loves Christmas Designer Paper (Echo Park)
Accessories:  Just the Edge Christmas Borders (Bazzill), Loop border punch (Martha Stewart), Fire Red Glitter (In the Making), Circle dies (Spellbinder), Holly & Berry embossing folder (Sizzix), gold cord, Xyron Sticker maker, Copic markers E50, E51, YG11, YG13, YG17, R24, R27, R29, E33, YR31

Christmas Emma was my starting point.  She reminds me of a time when I had "little" girls, who loved to dress up in fancy Christmas dresses and wear sparkly shoes.  Those were the days...before the super skinny jeans and dyed hair.  Emma is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Prism Simply Smooth white, and coloured with Copic markers.  I stamped her one more time and coloured the wreath and cut her out so I could pop her up and "out" of the Spellbinder circle.  The circle is embossed with the new Holly & Berry Sizzix folder.

The jingle bells are from Bazzills "Just the Edge" border strips.  I love these.  There are 8, 12x12" strips in a pack and you can do all sorts of fun things to jazz them up.  I pulled the jingle bells out and ran them through the Xyron sticker maker then coated it with Fire Red microfine glitter.  Then I burnished it with my finger, to make it really sparkle.  I decided that Emma could use a little sparkle, so I added some glitter to her shoes and also to the berries on the wreath.

Once everything was good and glittered, I tied some gold cord through the jingle bells and put it all together!  I think she is so sweet!

I hope this inspires you to try out the sketch.  When you're done, link your fabulous creation up here!

That's it for me folks!  I'll see you again real soon!
