Gold & Pearls

Hi all........boy time is sure going by fast.....I can't believe that it's the end of January already.....guess that means we are getting closer to the warm weather at least! Well I bought some of the new Hero Arts Stamps and the new My Favorite Things Die and Stamp set and I just had to play with them.....so here's what I came up with.........

Products Used:

Cardstock: White & Gold Metallic
Stamps: Hero Arts Cling Stamps- Classic Fabric Designs & Happy Definition, My Favorite Things Stamps & Die Set- Textile Rectangle

So, just a quick mini tutorial on how this was made.........I stamped the Happy Definition stamp with the rich cocoa and then stamped over this with the Versamark and the Classic Fabric Design stamp. Embossed with the gold EP. I did a second generation stamping with the Classic Fabric Design stamp and the rich cocoa ink, then stamped the MFT frame and sentiment with Versamark over that and embossed with the gold EP. Then I cut it out with the die. I embossed the white cardstock with the houndstooth folder. Then I decided to add a flower, so I made one of the ribbon flowers and added some leaves. If you want to know how to make these flowers, Hannah did a awesome video tutorial here. Then all that is left is to put it together and add the pearls. I hope you all have a great week!!! So, until next time...........

Valentine Hugs

I always get a kick out of all the Valentine "stuff" that is on display in stores only days after Christmas, although, really I should just take their queue and get on it.  I like making Valentine cards...because they are so themed and the "season" is so short for whatever reason that always appeals to me.  I send Valentines mostly to my friends...so I try not to make them too mushy.  DH always gets one of course, but pink and flowery isn't his style...it's mine!

Stamps: Hugs (Penny Black)
Paper:  pink, white,
With All My Heart DP (SEI)

With the exception of choosing ribbon, this card took all of 20 minutes.  Once I added the ribbon search and indecision in...well I'm way past an hour!  I finally decided on the rose ribbon, but it could change even as we speak!

I started by placing the three smallest Spellbinder hearts dies on the white card stock and I cut them out.  Then I ran it through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and adhered a piece of acetate to the back.  The designer paper is SEI's "With All My Heart"...I'm such a sucker for pink, flowers, embossing and glitter, and this paper has it all!  I layered the white section on top and adhered it with pop dots to add a little interest.  I stamped the sentiment on the small white heart, and popped it up on the largest heart and "floated" a few Hero Art's pearls around.  I love it!

Time is slipping away, so if you are planning to Play in Paradise with us, get your project up loaded by January 31st!  We'll be introducing our new Challenge Design Team on Friday, and our Playing in Paradise challenge will be a weekly challenge!  I hope you'll play along!

One last note, FREE SHIPPING runs til the end of the month and you still have time to pick up the Stampendous Embossing kits at our Featured Product price.  That's it for me!  Have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you soon!

Welcome Baby!

Products Used
Creative Imaginations - Lullaby Boy - Humpty Dumpty
Basic Grey Paper - Hopscotch - Skipping
Ranger - Tim Holtz - Distress Ink - Vintage Photo
Cosmo Cricket - Alpha chipboard & alpha stickers
...and brads, buttons, adhesive, and more!

Good Morning! Happy Saturday, everyone!

So, my cousin had her very first baby a few weeks ago! We were so excited to meet him that my baby girl and I made the seven hour trip to see my cousin and her new baby boy, Mavric.
I think he has the BEST NAME EVER, by the way!

He was/is super cute and wonderful -- as all brand new babies should be. I took this photo of my baby girl (who didnt seem much like a baby anymore next to him) checking out her new little cousin. I thought it was super cute and needed to be scrapbooked... and that Lullaby line of paper by Creative Imaginations was my first choice!

Hope you like it!

Camp Croppin' 2011

Camp Croppin’ is hosted by Scrapbooker’s Paradise and is the BEST Scrapbooking Convention in Canada!

Mark it on your calendars!  Registration for the NEW and IMPROVED Camp Croppin’ will begin on February 15th, 2011 at 9 am MST.
This is your chance to meet the people who design your favourite scrapbooking supplies.  With teachers and designers sent to us directly from companies like Bo Bunny, Prima and Stampendous you will learn the latest and greatest techniques in the scrapbooking industry!!!
Need some more convincing????  Take a look at Kate Kading’s (one of our Veteran Campers) Top 5 Reasons that she Loves Camp Croppin’:
#5 - In my little scrap world there are no husbands allowed at Camp Croppin'. It is a rip snortin', money spendin', support lendin', girl talkin', designer stalkin', sale findin', supply buyin', calorie eatin', Starbucks consumin', product rakin', make n' takin', zero sleepin', whale of a good time!

#4 - At Camp Croppin' my name is Kate. No really, it is! And that excites me. I am not Mrs. Kading. I am not "the wife". Not even ma'am. Nobody calls me "Honey can you", "Baby can I have", "Sweetie did you get to" or "Mummy I'm hungry". That's how I am addressed at home BUT at Camp Croppin' my name tag just says Kate. And can you believe it...people actually call me that. Yee Haw!

#3 - I am a real, live, intelligent person at Camp Croppin'! I am an artist, a colleague, a student, an admirer. I have thoughts and ideas that are listened to uninterrupted! I don't have the theme song to Treehouse shows in my head, my shirt is almost always clean {unless we've been eating cheesecake at midnight!} and I can put away the "used up Mummy" persona that sometimes takes over at home. I am not woken up in the middle of the night, called to the principal's office, late for a dentist appointment, stuck in a line at the bank or fighting my way through WalMart with a one year old on my hip and a 5 year old attached to my leg.

#2 - Nobody at Camp Croppin' has ever peed, pooped or puked on me. Ever. It is a blissful escape from sticky fingers, spilled messes, dirty jeans {mine!}, runny noses and the general chaos and broken pieces that ensue when boys yell "Let's WRESTLE!" And I am pretty sure that it states somewhere in the fine print that my registration fee exempts me from having to clean up any of the above stated messes. Bless that fine print.

#1 - Um hel-LO...more than 24 hours of uninterrupted scrap time with some of the BEST in the industry! Camp Croppin' FOSTERS my BASIC obsession to stalk my HEROS of the scrapbooking world. To admire some "BUNNY" else's FANCY work. And that's HOT.

So those are my TOP 5 reasons I love Camp Croppin'. There are about 103 more...but I have diapers to wash.

So get ready ladies!  We have limited our registration to only 200 people this year!  If you would like more information about Camp Croppin’, simply visit our website or join us on Facebook at our Camp Croppin 2011 page!

Embossed Thank You

Hi folks!  I'm back today with another card.  I picked up this gorgeous paper line by Making Memories and I just had to play with it.  And, in addition to using my new stuff, I used an embossing folder that I've had forever, and used it for the first time too!  You know, that just makes me feel good!

I kept the card simple, and loosely followed the Clean and Simple fall to sketch #124, because I love to start with a sketch, and Clean and Simple is what I strive to do, but I usually have a few too many layers and embellishments to end that way!

Stamps: Sentiments (American Crafts)
Paper:  burgundy,
Je t'dore DP, (Making Memories)
I love the little flowers in the embossing folder...it's a border set, and it seemed so perfect for the sketch.  I sanded the image to really make the flowers pop, and added "naked" buttons to their centres.  The ribbon was originally white, but white wasn't working so I sprayed it with Wheatfields Glimmer Mist to give it more of a vanilla look.  The rest is all pretty simple!
