Hi all, well it's time for another tutorial........and this time we are playing with Acrylic Paints, I used the
Ranger Acrylic Dabbers, this is such a fun way to expand your stamping! So onto today's tutorial............
Here's a list of the products I used:
Stamps: Kaiser Craft Chapter One and
Occasions
Step 1: First make sure that your dabber is working, if you have any problems and find that the paint is not coming out of the dabber, take out the dabber top and rinse it under running water. Also, if you find that the paint is really thick you can add some water to thin it, just make sure to add a little at a time. So now you are ready to apply the pearl paint to your stamp. Using the dabber apply it like you would an ink pad, don't worry if you get it in the crevices. Now stamp it, you don't need a lot of pressure when you are stamping with the paint. If you don't have the dabber acrylics, you can use regular acrylic paint, just use a sponge brush to apply it to your stamp. IMPORTANT: Make sure you wash your stamp off right away, since you don't want the acrylic paint to dry on your stamp!
Step 2: This is how it should look after you have stamped with the acrylic dabber. I stamped the image twice in each corner.
Step 3: Now do the butterfly with the gold acrylic paint and don't forget to wash off the paint when you are done!
Step 4: Here's how it should look after you have stamped the 2 butterflies.
Step 5: Now apply the distress inks,
Tumbled Glass,
Broken China,
Shabby Shutters and
Crushed Olive with your blending tool, starting with the lightest colour first. Where you have stamped the acrylic paint it will actually act as a resist. It should look something like this when you are done.
Step 6: Now I used the
Crushed Olive Distress ink and stamped the same image again, this time I off set the image so it creates a shadow.
Step 7: Now wipe off the ink with a paper towel, you can dampen it if you need to or use a baby wipe to remove the excess ink. Now it looks like a shadow behind the acrylic stamping.
Step 8: Now do the same for the butterfly with the
Broken China distress ink. Your finished piece should look like this. You can do so much with the acrylic dabbers and your stamps.......plus it's so much fun to play with. See below for the full card and what I did to finish it.
So all I did to finish this card is I used the Coredinations Shabby Shutters CST for the card and layered the Tumbled Glass CST over it. Then I used the Scallop corner punch on only 2 of the corners of the stamped piece. I added the twine and adhered it to the card. Now I die cut the banner and stamped the sentiment with the black archival ink and used the blending tool to apply the distress inks, this was pop dotted up in the center. That's all for this card! I hope you all enjoyed my tutorial and have some fun playing with the acrylic paint dabbers!!!
Here's another card I did:
Products Used:
Ink: Ranger Archival Ink Black
Stamps: Purple Onion Birthday Banner & Kaiser Craft Chapter One
The only thing I did different with this card is I used the Tattered Angels sprays instead of the distress inks.........there are so many options when you use the acrylic paints.......so have fun getting inky or should I say painty!!! :) That's it for this time.........so until next time.......Have a great week!!!
