Happy Friday! It's extra-chilly here in Nova Scotia this week - with windchill temperatures dipping below -30C, I've been snuggled in at my desk playing with paper and keeping warm. When it comes to setting a challenge, I like to challenge myself to use my supplies a little differently. Today is all about MISTS:

I've managed to collect quite a few colours of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist , and one of my favourite misting techniques is to use them as watercolour paints. The final project ends up with a lovely subtle shimmer - and it allows you to stretch your products yet another way. Check out the Scrapbooker's Paradise store for my favourite mists, as well as masks & templates! And do you know what I just found - this misting mat, specifically made for misting techniques...that's definitely going on my wish list!
My first step was to paint a swatch of white cardstock with red mist. Make sure to use a plain paintbrush when painting with your mists - you don't need to dilute it. On the other side of the cardstock I've stamped a gorgeous floral heart from Flourishes in waterproof black ink. I used a dark pink & the same red mist to paint the heart.
I made sure to include a shot of my little dish here - the molded plastic packaging from many craft products is PERFECT for disposable trays. You can see there are some mist drops in the dish - you don't want that on your work surface! This also keeps the lid & sprayer from rolling around. Another tip - unless you're taking a picture, take care not to leave your open mist bottle unattended.
...and assemble the final project - red circle, doily, floral heart, and tag/button/bow. Once the entire card was put together, I spritzed it lightly with yet another pink mist, and then used my new Corner Chomper to round the card's corners.

Once the mist has dried (you can give it a quick blast with a heat gun to be sure - mine is a fabulous Marvy Uchida model), use your trusty Cuttlebug & Nestability dies to cut a circle from the painted cardstock. Fussy-cut around the heart (Fiskars has a great selection of precision cutting tools!)
